Computer design and computer graphics have come a long way in recent years, to the point of being able to re-create reality. Creating 3-D renders and vector designs of vehicles has become an art form in itself. Some of these images are so realistic in their appearance that unless you were told otherwise, you probably would not be able to tell whether you were looking at a photograph or a computer generated design. Others are beautiful in their use of color, lighting, shadows, and composition. Here are some examples of vector car designs.
1. Audi A8 Cinema 4D–TT design
This design is a render version of the Audi A8. It has great detail, not only on the car, such as in the lighted headlight, but also in the rough texture of the pavement and the reflection in the water in the background. The artist also put great detail into the sky and clouds, especially in the clouds reflected in the water, and in the light shining through the clouds.
2. Vector car
This vector car design, though not as realistic looking, still has great aesthetic properties. There is a realistic lighting effect in the headlights, a subtle shading of color in the racing stripes on the hood and sides, and the appearance of deep shadows on the inside of the car. It also has an interesting use of lines, shapes, and swirls in the background. The car seems to leap off the screen, displaying an impressive use of 3D technology.
3. White old time car
This design, based on an actual photograph, impressively reproduces the original. Again, detail makes this image look realistic, especially the use of shading and shadows, The windshield area in particular demonstrates impressive use of lighting and shading, which significantly improves the reflective look of the glass.
4. Lego Ferrari F1 Racing Car
This may be a 3D rendering of a car made from toys, but even Legos can create impressive pictures. There is great detail in the tire treads, and the lego pieces, as well as the shadowing. It makes good use of depth perception as well, showing how well the 3D part of design allows for such realism in the image.
5. Super car
This image seems like something from “The Jetsons.” Perhaps someday we might be driving or flying something like this. The vector design has great detail in the lighting, as well as the antennas on the front and sides. There is a lot of realism in the shading, shadowing, and the reflection rendered in the glass. There is also good contrast in the background, between the surface it is sitting on when contrasted with the rest of the background.
Computer graphics has created amazing possibilities. With 3-D design, one can create such realism in images that it can give the impression of a photograph. One can only imagine where future technology will take us in the realm of graphic design.
